A process of bonding together water-penetrable cellulosic substrate with a urea-aldehyde resin adhesive soln. comprises replacing about 1% -35% by wt. of the urea-aldehyde resin solids in the adhesive by a water-dispersible salt of the gp. consisting of alkali halides, alkaline earth halides, of mixtures thereof.
