<p>Fatty acid mixtures which contain 0.8-15% wt. pref. 1:10% wt non-fatty acid organic materials derived from the raw materials used for prepn. of the mixtures. these materials having a composition other than that corresponding with formula (I): R-COOH (I) (where R is a C7-27 pref. C9-21 linear or branched aliphatic or cycloaliphatic, satd. or unsatd. hydrocarbyl gp) are separated into components having different melting points by (a) converting the initial mixt. into a dispersion of separate liquid and solid fatty acid particles in an aqs. soln. of a wetting agent, (b) centrifuging the dispersion into a light phase consisting of liquid fatty acid particles and a heavy phase consisting of solid fatty acid particles in the aqs. wetting agent soln. (c) separating the solid fatty acid particles from the aqs. wetting agent soln. and (d) returning the aqs. wetting agent soln to the process after withdrawing the aqs. wetting agent soln to the process after withdrawing a part of this soln. and replacing it by water of an aqs. soln. contng. wetting agents and/or electrolytes. Used technically for sepn. of distilled tallow fatty acids.</p> |
