1,224,000. Knitting-machines. E. MAYER [trading as MAYER & CIE]. 5 March, 1968 [6 March, 1967], No. 57545/67. Heading D1C. The butts 9 of the needle jacks 12 of a circular machine are engaged or disengaged to cause the jacks to miss or engage a lifting cam 14 for needle selecting purposes by a series of horizontally pivoted selector members 1 which have at their near ends 1c permanently magnetized plates 19a, 19b and extending between the pole shoes 15a, 15b of an electromagnet 15. A direct current fed to the coil of the electro-magnet in one direction or the other causes the selector member to be pivoted upwardly or downwardly and to be retained in either position by the permanently magnetized plates 19a, 19b provided at its end 1c. The selector members 1 are pivoted at their ends in spring loaded bearings the effect of which can be altered to vary the ease of the pivoting movement of the members. |
