<p>Rigs consisting of liquid-filled buffer vessels are used at critical locations in supply pipelines (usually water) to stabilise the effects of sudden low pressure surges and water hammer. By the use of a non-return valve actuated by only a small pressure differential, ingress of air into the pipeline during pressure fluctuation is prevented. The rigs are self-contained and do not need compressed air facilities.</p> |
