1385838 Lock-nuts SAAB-SCANIA AB 11 June 1973 [26 June 1972] 27765/73 Heading F2H [Also in Division H2] A self-locking nut for electrical terminal connections comprises a metal nut 11 housed in an outer recess 9 in one end of an elongate plastics body 8 of circular cross-section, an inner recess 10 in the body 8 opening into the recess 9 and having therewith a length sufficient to receive a screw shank 4 when the nut is fully tightened on the screw, one or more projections integral with the wall of the inner recess 10 for locking contact with the screw thread on the shank 4, and the other end 13 of the plastics body 8 having wrench or screwdriver receiving means. In Figs. 2, 3 the locking projections are axial ribs 12 along the wall of the inner recess 10, a screwdriver slot 14 is formed in the end 13, and the nut 11 has a knurled outer periphery bonded to the plastics body 8. A hole 15 for an electrical test probe connects the recess 10 to the end face 13. In Fig. 4, the locking projection is an annular rib 16 and the hexagonal socket 14 has a minimum diameter at least as great as the bore of recess 10. The metal nut 11 may be hexagonal. The end 13 may have an external wrenchreceiving form.
