The calculating means may comprise a member 12 (Fig. 2) having markings representing bust sizes 34, wool types 36 and numbers of stitches 38, and a member 10 (Fig. 1) having windows 26, 28, 30 and 32 and sets of knitting instructions 22 and 24 marked on it. The two members are rotatably attached by a pivot passing through apertures 14 and 16 with the member 10 overlying the member 12. Member 10 is rotated relative to member 12 until the desired bust size and wool type appear in windows 26 and 28 respectively, whereupon numbers of stitches can be read off in windows 30 and 32 against the corresponding instructions 22 and 24. The calculating means may alternatively comprise two members which are linearly movable relative to each other (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) or the two members may be in the form of drums, rotatably mounted with respect to each other. The members may be conveniently made from cardboard or plastics and the member which has means to indicate data on the other member may be either opaque and provided with windows or transparent and provided with a hair line marking. |
