A bearing, particularly suitable as a locomotive traction motor suspension bearing, is in the form of a cylindrical sleeve 11 having an end flange 23 for receiving thrust loads. Lubrication is through a window 18 in the sleeve 11 and axial containment of lubricant is achieved by means of rings 25 rotating with the suspended shaft 12 in grooves 27 in the sleeve 11. Axially outside the grooves 27 are further collector grooves 31 to catch lubricant. To overcome the problem of transferring lubricant to the bearing face 23 of the flange, flange wicks 35 lying in grooves extend axially and then radially from one of the collector grooves 31. <IMAGE> |
