PURPOSE:To achieve a smaller size of the apparatus, lower power consumption and lower price by reducing the capacity of an ROM for coordinate transforma tion without adding a special circuit to a coordinate transformation circuit for performing a polar coordinate transformation. CONSTITUTION:An echo signal from an object to be inspected is written into an image memory 24 at an address corresponding to an ultrasonic scanning system. A display signal generation circuit 28 generates a synchronous signal corresponding to a scanning system of a display device while outputting an area switching signal for the switching of a display area. A count image is started synchronizing the synchronous signal with a horizontal address counter 29 and a vertical address counter 30 which is allowed to switching from increment to decrement by the area switching signal to generate a horizontal address H and a vertical address V. A polar coordinates address signal is read out of an ROM 31 for coordinate transformation at the horizontal address H and the vertical address V. The echo signal is read out of the image memory 24 based on the polar coordinates address signal and the synchronous signal to be displayed as ultrasonic diagnosis image. |
