Method for deicing a tubular or plate exchanger allowing removal of a deposit of ice on an aqueous solution to be cooled at the limit of its freezing point. Method characterised in that: - the reversibility of the cooling cycle of a heat pump 2 is employed for performing this deicing by raising the temperature of the exchanger; - this operation is controlled by automation which triggers: - first, reversal of the cooling cycle (hot operation) and simultaneous shutdown of the flow of the solution 6 to be cooled through the exchanger 1; - secondly, reversal of the cooling cycle (cold operation) as soon as the temperature is sufficient to cause melting of the ice; - thirdly, putting the solution to be cooled 6 back in circulation. Method characterised in that the deicing operation may be manually controlled. <IMAGE>
