PURPOSE:To prevent the accumulation of an iron component by effectively dispersing the iron component while pH of boiler water is held to a proper value, by using polyacrylamide or a partial hydrolysate thereof in combination with an acrylate copolymer. CONSTITUTION:Polyacrylamide with MW of about 200-100,000 or a partial hydrolysate (hydrolysis ratio is 30mol% or less) thereof and an acrylate copolymer containing acrylate or methacrylate with MW of about 300-100,000 as a main structural unit are added to boiler water in an amount of 0.1-30mg/l in a compounding ratio of (9:1)-(1:9) on a wt. basis. The acrylate type copolymer is a homopolymer or copolymer of acrylate or metacrylate or a copolymer with hydroxyethyl methacrylate. By combining two kinds of polymers, the iron component in boiler water can be dispersed regardless of the origin thereof and, in the case of each component alone, the varying pH of boiler water can be held to a proper value.
