PURPOSE:To attain sufficient data compression at all times without using huge code quantity by using a direct absolute coordinate so as to express a difference value in the overload mode. CONSTITUTION:When the difference value is at the outside of a preset range based on the result of a difference mode deciding section 10, (overload mode), a sample point coordinate is expressed by the absolute coordinate, and an interpolation chain coding section 4 applying coding for data compression to an interpolation chain generated in an interpolation chain generating section 3 overcomes the increase in the code quantity generated in applying the interpolation chain coding. In this case, the sampling point coordinate is expressed by the code length of an identification signal (m-bit) and an absolute coordinate (n-bitX2) and all sample points are expressed in the code length of (m+2n)-bit or below.
