PURPOSE:To prepare the title coke having excellent moldability and capable of preventing puffing, by screening the raw coke produced from a heavy oil derived from coal tar according to the delayed coking process into powdery portions and granular portions, separately calcining them, and mixing together the calcined cokes. CONSTITUTION:The raw coke produced from a heavy oil derived from coal tar according to the delayed coking process is screened into powdery portions having an average particle size of <=5mm and granular portions. The powdery portions are calcined at 1,050-1,450 deg.C for 10-40min, and the granular portions at 1,300-1,500 deg.C for 3-48hr. 20-80pts.wt. calcined powdery coke is mixed with 80-20pts.wt. calcined granular coke.
