PURPOSE:To select the wavelength of light to be branched and coupled optionally by arranging two beam splitter cubes so that each one-surface side face to each other, and providing an optical filter between those two surfaces. CONSTITUTION:This device consists of two optical blocks equipped with the beam splitter cubes 1 and 2, two rod lens 9-12 each which are provided where light is transmitted through the beam splitter cubes 1 and 2, and two optical fibers 5-8 each, the translucent surfaces 3 and 4 of the beam splitter cubes 1 and 2 are set at right angles to each other so that the optical axes of light beams which are reflected by the translucent film surfaces 3 and 4 are aligned with each other, and each one-surface side of the beam splitter cubes 1 and 2 are arranged opposite to each other. Then the optical filter 13 is provided slantingly between those two surfaces. Consequently, light having specific wavelength can be passed through the reflecting operation of the optical filter 13 and two beam splitter cubes 1 and 2, then this device functions as a superior optical branching and coupling device. |
