The arm of a windscreen wiper is oscillated about a fixed pivot by means of a connecting rod which is connected to the ball joint (74) fitted to the end of a rotating crank (72). The crank (72) is mounted on the end of a shaft (50) which is supported in spherical bush (52) so that its axis is inclined to the axis of the driving shaft (48) from which it is driven by a flexible coupling. The spherical bush (52) is mounted in a cylindrical bush (54) which can be rotated in the housing by a worm (63) and wheel (62) drive. This feature enables the ball end of the crank to be moved from the position (74) to the position (174) and bring the wiper arm to its rest position which lies below the lower limit of its working stroke. |
