PURPOSE:To enable and ensure the joining of both shield machines when a tunnel is excavated from opposite directions by two shield machines to pass through the tunnel. CONSTITUTION:Rotary excavation cutters of both shield machines 1 and 2 are constituted of disk-like circular cutters 5 and 6 and the peripheral ring cutters 7 and 8 arranged to the peripheral surfaces of the circular cutters 5 and 6 so that they are capable of rotating together as a unit and are capable of sliding front and rear. The circular cutter 6 of one shield machine has a smaller diameter than that of the circular cutter 5 of the other shield machine, the peripheral ring cutter 8 of the circular cutter 5 is advanced, so that it is covered on the circular cutter 6 in a move-back trace of the peripheral ring cutter 8 of one shield machine. In addition, an air tube provided to the peripheral surface of the circular cutter 6 is expanded, and pressure welding of the air tube to the circumferential surface of the peripheral ring cutter 8 is made. |
