Compounds of formula (I), and their N-oxides and agriculturally suitable salts, are disclosed which are useful as fungicides wherein E is 1,2-phenylene optionally substituted with R<3> or both R<3> and R<4>; A is O, S, N, NR<5> or CR<6>; G is C or N; provided that when G is C, then A is O, S or NR<5> and the floating double bond is attached to G; and when G is N, then A is N or CR<6> and the floating double bond is attached to A; W is O, S, NH, N(C1-C6 alkyl) or NO(C1-C6 alkyl); X is OR<1>, S(O)mR<1> or halogen; Y is -O-, -S(O)n-, -NR<7>-, -CH2O-, -CH2NR<7>-, -CH2S(O)n- or a direct bond; and the directionality of the Y linkage is defined such that the moiety depicted on the left side of the linkage is bonded to E and the moiety on the right side of the linkage is bonded to Z; Z is phenyl, pyrimidinyl or triazinyl, each substituted with R<9> and optionally substituted with one or more R<10>; R<2> is H, C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 haloalkyl, C2-C6 alkenyl, C2-C6 haloalkenyl, C2-C6 alkynyl, C2-C6 haloalkynyl, C3-C6 cycloalkyl, C2-C4< alkylcarbonyl, C>2<-C>4< alkoxycarbonyl, hydroxy, C>1<-C>2< alkoxy or acetyloxy. Also disclosed are compositions containing the compounds of formula (I) and a method for controlling plant diseases caused by fungal plant pathogens which involves applying an effective amount of a compound of formula (I). |
