<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically avoid overlap between a musical sound confused with audio on a transmission side and a musical sound reproduced with MIDI data by a musical performance system that transmits MIDI data, video, and audio through a network etc., for a remote lesson and reproduces a musical sound of an automatic playing piano on a reception side with the MIDI data. <P>SOLUTION: The MIDI data received on the reception side are input to a sound source of a piano controller 22a to generate a musical sound signal corresponding to the MIDI data. A switch module 21f judges whether the sound volume level of the musical sound signal is equal to or higher than a prescribed level. When so, audio output is turned off and no audio is reproduced by a loudspeaker 25, and when not, the audio output is turned on.
