摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display miniaturized, lightened in weight and improved in energy efficiency by providing red, green and blue light units and a spatial light modulator or the like optically connected with the beam splitters of red, green and blue light units. SOLUTION: Light beams in red, green and blue radiated from light emitting diodes 121 -123 are received by collimators 141 -143 . The respective received light beams are respectively passed through polarized light beam splitters 161 -163 . These beam splitters 161 -163 are modulated by a spatial modulator 18 having M×N pixels. The spatial modulator 18 is controlled by a display driver 20. A projection lens 22 receives the modulated beams and turns them toward a projection screen 24 on the front face of a housing. A sequence controller 28 connected three light sources controls light beams in red, green and blue. The spatial modulator 18 and three light sources are connected to a power source.</p>
