Charging and discharging piezoelectric element to desired voltage

The method involves ending the charging or discharging process a certain time before the desired voltage is attained at the piezoelectric element. Charging or discharging may involve repeated opening and closing a charge/discharge switch (3) in the charging/discharging circuit. The process may be ended at a point in time at which it can be assumed that the voltage at the piezoelectric element will reach the desired voltage. An apparatus for charging and discharging a piezoelectric element is also claimed.
