摘要 <p>The present invention pertains to the field of nuclear technology and can be used for carrying out a fission nuclear chain reaction in order to produce high neutron fluences and gamma quantum and to generate thermal or electrical energy. The purpose of this invention is to reduce the mass of the nuclear fuel and to ensure a more efficient use thereof in the reactor core. According to this invention, all rapid neutrons can be slowed down practically without any loss until they reach thermal energy levels, wherein said neutrons can be considered to be at a standstill as they fall in a vacuum magnetic trap because of their reduced speed relative to the displacement speed of the fissile material nuclei. The neutrons are thus capable of interaction even at a relatively reduced density of the fissile material. A sensible reduction (by a unit of 10 grams) occurs in the critical mass of the fissile material in the reactor core. It is thus possible to reach very high energies (1000 megawatts or more) in the reactor core since the fission products, which include more than 90 % of the nuclear energy produced, can be extracted from said reactor core and directed towards devices for directly converting their energy into electricity, for example. The nuclear reactor of the present invention is essentially environmentally safe since, at any time, the fissile material in the core does not exceed a few tens of grams.</p>
