PURPOSE: A preparation of a polymer capable of peculiarly adsorbing a glutamate derivative pigment and method of selectively and effectively separating the glutamate derivative pigment using the polymer prepared thereby are provided which can reuse the polymer semipermanently. CONSTITUTION: A method is described for preparing a polymer capable of peculiarly adsorbing a glutamate derivative pigment as glutamic acid-derivatized N-glutamyl rubropunctamine and N-glutamylmonascorubramine(hereinafter referred to collectively as glutamate derivative pigment ) which comprises incorporating the glutamate derivative pigment, a functional monomer capable of non-covalent-bonding or weak covalent-bonding thereto, a cross-linking material and a polymerization initiator in an organic reaction solvent and polymerizing. Also described is a method for separating by selectively absorbing only the glutamate derivative pigment effectively from a meniscus fermentation solution as a production strain of the glutamate derivative pigment using the polymer.
