PURPOSE: An apparatus for training an animal and a control method thereof are provided to easily train an animal by applying a high voltage shock wave or vibrations to the animal for a constant time with being worn on the body of the animal. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for training an animal consists of a transmitter having a transmission antenna(18) for transmitting the order of a trainer, and a receiver mounted on a necklet of the animal for receiving a signal from the transmitter via a receiving antenna. The receiver outputs a shock wave or vibrations of constant level. In a method for controlling the animal training apparatus, a secret number is set by using an ID code setting switch(2). After a volume regulator adjusts the level of the shock wave to be applied to the animal, a mode selection switch(6) is set to a vibration position, a vibration and shock wave position, or a shock wave position.
