PURPOSE: An auto-recognizing remote control system and a method thereof are provided to enable everybody to easily use electronic appliances by directly receiving data, such as a control setup file, etc., from electronic devices and easily setting up them. CONSTITUTION: An auto-recognizing remote control system is composed of televisions(200a,200b) and a remote controller(300). Each television(200a,200b) contains a file transmitting module(210) and a generic infrared control signal receiving module(220). The remote controller(300) comprises an infrared communication port(310) to communicate with the file transmitting module(210) of the television(200a) and a generic infrared control signal transmitting port(320) to transmit a control signal to the generic infrared control signal receiving module(220). An LCD touch screen, where icons(332) indicating various electronic devices are displayed, is installed on the upper surface of the remote controller(300). A new-device button(340), a symmetrical page button(342), a backlight button(344) and a sleep button(346) are installed in the bottom of the upper surface of the remote controller(300).
