PURPOSE:To obtain an aromatic halide having a substituent group at the p- position in high selectivity and yield even in reaction at high temperatures. CONSTITUTION:Benzene and a monohalogenobenzene, etc., are halogenated in the presence of L type zeolite in contact with an alkoxysilane such as methyltriethoxysilane or diethoxydimethylsilane to afford an aromatic halide such as a p-dihalogenobenzene.
