<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element, such as a light emitting diode which improves a light extraction efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting element of cubic shape includes a light emitting unit, and a transparent material having a different refractive index from at least a light extraction region and superposed and coated on the outer periphery of the light emitting unit. In the light emitting element, when the refractive indexes of at least both the transparent materials A1, A2 adjacent at the interior and the exterior are n1 and n2 from the inside, both the transparent materials A1, A2 are selected so that specific refractive index (n2/n1) between both the transparent materials A1 and A2 satisfies (n2/n1)≥about 0.82.
