PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control access to tape library resources from every virtual machine. SOLUTION: A tape library comprises a plurality of tape media, a plurality of slots for storing the plurality of respective tape media, a drive in which the tape medium ejected from any of the plurality of slots is set for data reading or writing from or to the tape medium, and a controller for ejecting the tape medium from a designated one of the plurality of slots and setting it in the drive. A host computer comprises a plurality of virtual machines, a first storage area storing slot assignment information representing which slot is assigned to which virtual machine, and an access control part for identifying the slot assigned to a first one of the plurality of virtual machines by the slot assignment information and restricting access from the first virtual machine to the tape medium in the identified slot.
