PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an element forming method capable of reducing a fear that a drop may occur at the recess or salient of the element of a stepless speed change device.SOLUTION: On a holding face 28a of a pad 28 for holding a plate 11, and at a position spaced from the end part of a head 2 of an element 1, there is formed a projection 29 projecting toward the side of the plate 11.
