PURPOSE:To provide the optical recording medium of a phase transition type having high stability of recording. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer 2 consisting of a polycrystalline Si thin film is formed on a substrate 1. Parts 2a where the thickness t1 is large and parts 2b which constitute recording regions and where the thickness t2 (<t1) is small are formed on this recording layer 2. These thin parts 2b are melted by irradiation with a laser beam L and are thereafter solidified, by which these parts are made amorphous and recording is executed. |
