PURPOSE:To prevent the position of a detector for detecting the density of a detected patch image formed on a photosensitive drum from hindering the constitution of a device by setting a density detector on a transfer drum. CONSTITUTION:A cartridge 15 in which an image carrier 2, an electrifier 5, a cleaner 4 and a developing unit 1 are integrally supported by a frame body 15' is freely attached and detached from the main body 20 along a guide 16 provided on the image forming device main body 20. The image density detector 6 which detects the density of a toner image formed on the image carrier 2 to be detected is opposed to the image carrier 2 and incorporated in the transfer sheet carry part of the gripper supporting base of the transfer drum which rotates while holding a transfer sheet. The density detector 6 is covered with transparent member which transmits light. This device is a reflection type detector constituted by combining a light emitting element which emits light and a light receiving element which produces an electric signal corresponding to the quantity of received light. |
