[Also in Division H4] In an arrangement for enabling an operator to control the display on a cathode-ray tube (C.R.T.) 1, Fig. 1, associated with a digital computer 33 feeding into orthogonal deflection members 3, 4 and grid 5 via digital-to-analogue converters 29, 30, photo-electric transducers 7 . . . 10 afford outputs, from differential amplifiers 17, 18, which correspond to the manual movement of a member 11 having a grooved end, Fig. 2, the analogue outputs from the differential amplifiers being encoded into digital form for feeding into the computer which thereby modifies its programme to afford a persistent display of the path followed by member 11. A switch 25 is closed before " drawing " is required and a switch 40 is closed before erasure of a display is desired. The differential amplifiers also feed the corresponding deflexion members. The summed outputs of all transducers is fed to the computer to notify that the operator is about to intervene. A gate 39 is opened when switch 25 is closed to cause modulation of the C.R.T. beam for eliminating the effect of ambient light. A multi-colour C.R.T. may be utilized. |
