Bulked drawn continuous filament polyester yarn is made in a process in which the filaments are crimped by false twisting at a speed of at least 265'/min and the temperature of the yarn at the pin of the false twist spindle is controlled so that it does not exceed to any substantial extent the glass-rubber transition temperature of the filaments. The temperature of the pin may be controlled so as not to exceed a temperature of 20‹C below the transition temperature, e.g. 100‹C. |
