1,247,376. Continuous casting. WIENER SCHWACHSTROMWERKE G.m.b.H. 20 Nov., 1968 [15 Dec., 1967], No. 54974/68. Heading B3F. A tapered graphite mould 1, e.g. for casting noble metal strip, is contained between conically recessed cooling elements 2a, 2b, 2c and an end cooling device 3. Screws 5 bear on a yoke 4 and force a pressure plate 6 against the end cooling device 3. The cooling elements 2a, 2b and 2c, which are preferably made of differing materials, are thermally separate from each other and contain cooling ducts 9 which are of different diameters and may be operated independently of each other. The end cooling device 3 comprises elements 3a and 3b each containing cooling ducts 7, 8, also of different diameters. From the duct 8, one or more cooling fluids e.g. inert gases, oxygen, water, are blown on to the casting leaving the mould. |
