The beams are made by forming straight bars with intermittent transverse welded connections into wave shapes by clamping alternate cross connections and subsequent compression bending, following which the formed set is advanced by one wave length. During the feed intervals, two subsequent sets of rods are bent such that the wave crests of the pressure braces approach each other whilst the tensile stressed wave crest move apart, following which the compressive wave crest point is welded to the tensile wave crest point. The method results in rigid structure contg. no elastically stressed struts. Welding cycles are short as there is no need to keep components clamped together during cooling.
