PURPOSE:To provide a optical selector/optical switch using the semiconductor lasers of variable wavelengths, which are used for optical communications, and wherein by a variable wavelength control using cimple circuits, for the input optical signals having a plurality of wavelengths, outputted are the optical signals having desired wavelengths at desired output terminals respectively. CONSTITUTION:N semiconductor lasers 700-1 700-n, each of which can emit a light at either one of n wavelengths lambda1-lambdan, are provided. The wavelengths of the lights emitted from the semiconductor lasers 700-1 700-n are set automatically by the output control signals of a control part 900 or by the changeover informations inserted into an input optical signal. A optical selector is so configured that for an input optical signal having either one of n wavelengths lambda1-lambdan, a optical signal is outputted from the semiconductor laser, whose set wavelength is the same as the input optical signal. Also, the n sets of foregoing optical selectors, which are in connection with each other in parallel, are so used as to obtain respectively the n output optical signals having n desired wavelengths for n input optical signals. |
