[Also in Division A5] The invention comprises compounds of the Formula I wherein R 1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, R 2 is a methyl, 2-methyl-1-propenyl, 2- methoxycarbonyl - 1 - propenyl, phenyl or 3,4- methylenedioxyphenyl radical when R 1 is a hydrogen atom or R 2 is a methyl radical when R 1 is a methyl radical, R 3 is a phenyl radical or a 5-membered heterocyclic ring (e.g. thiophene, furan, pyrrole) each of which may be substituted by a chlorine atom or a methyl group. They are prepared by reacting a benzyl compound of the formula where A is a halogen atom, hydroxy or tosyloxy group with the appropriate cyclopropane carboxylic acid or its reactive derivatives, e.g. acid halides, anhydride, salts or lower alkyl C 1-4 esters. The compounds of Formula I have insecticidal activity.
