1,238,783. Optical scanning device. ELTRO G.m.b.H. July 11, 1969 [Oct. 17, 1968], No.35052/69. Heading G2J. In an optical scanning device where scanning movement of a beam takes place along two parallel straight lines in opposite directions, the transition of the beam from the end of one line to the beginning of the next is a movement substantially perpendicular to the lines, and the transition takes place with a jump, i.e. virtually without acceleration or deceleration. The device may comprise a rotating disc 1 having a transmission surface comprising two plane, parallel but offset surfaces 2, 12, the offset 9 being sufficient to shift the transmitted beam a distance equivalent to one line. Alternatively Fig. 2 the transmission surface of one half of the disc 1 may comprise the generatrix of a cone the apex of which is on the axis of rotation. In further embodiments the disc may be a mirror of similar construction. Another embodiment illustrates a disc having a semicircular aperture in one half of its surface, whereby a light beam is undeviated by the aperture but is deviated by the distance of one line when passing through the solid part of the disc. |
