[Also in Division H2] A latching member, Fig. 2, comprises a slidable, spring- biased plate 80, having a pointed end 86, mounted in a groove 62, in the side of a fixed frame. A pin 52, mounted on the edge of a movable frame, hinged to the fixed frame, initially engages the edge 88 of the end 86, Fig. 4, forcing the plate 80 along within the groove 62 against the spring pressure, until it catches behind the end 86, as in Fig. 6. To prevent withdrawal of the pin, the movable frame, which is now latched face-toface with the fixed one, is moved along parallel to it, causing the pin 52 and plate 80 to be forced along the groove 62 into a position where the pin cannot be withdrawn from behind the end 86. The movable and fixed frames form a plugboard assembly (see Division H2). |
