[Also in Division C2] Acaricidal compositions comprise as active ingredient a 2,2,2-trichloroethylidene aniline of the formula: in which Hal is fluorine, chlorine or bromine, R is alkyl and/or nitrile, x is 0,1,2,3,4 or 5, y is 0, 1 or 2, z is 0,1,2 or 3, x being at least 1 when y is 0, y being at least 1 when x is 0, and x+y+z being not more than 5, prepared by reacting an amine of the formula: with chloral of the formula: CCl 3 CHO. in the presence of at least the stoichiometric amount of chloride or anhydride of an inorganic acid, together with a carrier or diluent. The composition may be in the form of solutions, emulsions, suspensions, powders, pastes and granulates. Many active ingredients and carriers and diluents are specified. |
