A graphic data processing unit (11) which, when graphic information is input for individual graphical forms obtains three-dimensional spatial position information (region information) spheres containing the graphical forms, and transfers the same together with the graphic information to a graphic data base (12) to be stored therein. Further, the processing unit obtains three-dimensional spatial position information of a grouping sphere containing several graphical forms, and registers the same as grouped region information in a region administration table (13). Upon designation of a display region, the processing unit (11) discriminates whether the grouping sphere lies within the designated region with reference to the grouped region information. If the grouping sphere lies outside the designated region, all the graphic elements constituting the group are excluded from those to be displayed. If the grouping sphere lies within the designated region, a graphic data retrieval/display unit (14) discriminates whether the sphere lies within the designated region for each graphical forms with reference to the region information. If the sphere lies outside the designated region, the graphical form is excluded from those to be displayed. If the sphere lies within the designated region partially or entirely, the graphical form is selected as the one to be displayed, and is displayed on a display device (15). Accordingly, the graphical form contained entirely or partially within the designated three-dimensional space can be retrieved or displayed at high speed, thereby improving working efficiency. <IMAGE> |
