Foam controlling washing preparations

To prepns. containing the usual detergent constituents are added foam-suppressing cyclic carboxylic acids of general formula R(OR1)nO(CH2)mCOOM where R = branched or straight chain hydrocarbon gp. with 8-24C atoms, which may be unsatd. or a mono or dilakyl aryl gp. with 6-30C atoms in the alkyl gp. which can be satd. or an alkylamino gp. with 8-24C atoms or an acylamido gp. with 8-24C atoms in the acyl gp; R1 = C2H4 or C3H6 or a mixture thereof, n = a number from 1 to 40, m = a whole number from 1 to 3, M = H or a cation. A pref. cpd. is where R = lauryl, R1 = C2H4 n = 4,5 and m =1.
