1328111 Electrode PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 28 Aug 1970 [1 Sept 1969] 41530/70 Heading A5R An electrode which provides a stable electrical connection with the skin so that interference free bio-electrical signals can be obtained, comprises a contact member 1 of a textile fibre which has been rendered electric-. ally conductive by carbonization or graphiting. The contact member is secured on an adhesive strip 2 for attachment to the skin, and connected to an electrical connection line 4 of the same material as the contact member either integrally, where the connecting line is a strand of the contact member which has been drawn through the adhesive strip, Fig. 7 or by means of a snap fastener 6, 7 in Fig. 2. The contact member may be a spirally wound or unravelled end of the connection line (Figs. 5 and 6 respectively, not shown), a knitted mesh Fig. 7, or a woven tape, Fig. 2 (or Fig. 4 not shown), the latter of which is provided with a nap of erect fibres for better contact with the skin. A pad of foam rubber may be placed in between the contact member and adhesive strip to provide a better contact, and to provide a store of electrolytic jelly. |
