1,190,584. Rotary fluid-flow meters. SUN OIL CO. May 19, 1967 [June 3, 1966], No.23405/67. Heading F1F. In a rotary fluid-flow meter of the axial-flow impulse-turbine type, to give access to the rotor 31 without interrupting the flow of fluid through a pipe 3, the rotor is carried by ribs 29 upon a support 7 attached to a partially-rotatable shaft 9 furnished with a handle 15, which when turned through 180 degrees inverts the support and shifts the rotor into a chamber 40 within a removable cover 39. A non-rotary shaft 20 is made of ferromagnetic material to effect induction of electric impulses in a pick-up coil (not shown), which is lodged in a nipple 23, by magnets 37, 38, the support being made of non-magnetic material. Bearing brushes for the rotor are mounted in screw-threaded holders 30, 34 within bosses on the ribs 29, which bosses are slotted longitudinally to facilitate removal of the rotor. |
