[Also in Division B5] A method of forming and simultaneously bonding an insole to a last comprises positioning a last L on a sealing liner 8 in a cavity 10 of a lower mould half 4 and then placing thereon an upper mould half 6, a cavity c being enclosed between the bottom of the last and the mould halves, and then injecting moulding material down a sprue 12 into the cavity c while the halves 4, 6 are pressed together, a leakproof seal comprising a sheet 16 being interposed between the mating surfaces thereof. After the insole is bonded to the last, the latter is removed from the mould and an upper is applied to the last and bonded to the insole, the last then being replaced in the mould for injection moulding an outsole, Fig. 2 (not shown). The insole may comprise a prefabricated portion inserted in the mould with the last prior to moulding the remainder of the insole. Moulds for effecting the above methods are described in the parent Specification 1,120,399. |
