Methyl-xanthine derivs

摘要

Reaction of 1,3-dimethyl-4,5-diamino-uracil with formaldehyde gives caffeine, theophylline and 1,2-bis-theophylly,(7,7')-ethane, all of which are therapeutically useful. This method is short and economical compared to prior methods.
