Antiepileptic anticonvulsant benzamides

saturated or unsaturated alkoxy)-benzamides are prepd. in good yields and high quality by reacting a 3,5-dimethoxy-4-(6-18C alkoxy)-benzoic acid with urea or thiourea in the presence or absence of a solvent. The products are antiepileptics and anticonvulsants without hypnotic activity.
