Curable polyepoxide compositions comprise (1) a polyepoxide averaging more than one epoxide group per molecule and (2) 2 to 25 parts per 100 parts of epoxide of finely divided red phosphorus. The compositions are self-extinguishing and useful in preparing moulded articles, casting, laminates and coatings and as impregnating agents. The red phosphorus is preferably stabilised, for example with magnesium oxide and is ground so that at least 90% passes a 200 mesh U.S.A. standard sieve. The epoxy resin is pref. a bisphenol. A polyepoxide, pref. with an epoxy equivalence of 170-300 or 300-700. A curing agent e.g. an anhydride or amine may be present.
