A machine for facilitating the assembly of electronic components into printed circuit boards includes an indicator for the positioning of the components on an actual circuit board comprising a replica board having holes equivalent to those in a board to be assembled. Replica circuit boards are placed on tables 16a, 17a, the boards being through drilled in positions corresponding to the component positions on the actual board, which is fixed in holders 18, 19. The operator moves a handle 15 to bring a stylus 9a above one of the holes in the uppermost replica board, thereby bringing a contactor tip 35 into contact with a stud 30 exposed through a hole in the lower replica board to illuminate a lamp 34 on a component storage bin. Simultaneously, a spotlight projection head 10a is shifted to illuminate the position on the actual circuit board where the component from the indicated bin is to be fitted. Having fitted the component the operator presses a switch 37 or 37a and a ball bearing is ejected into the hole beneath the stylus 9a, thus obscuring illumination from a fluorescent lamp 29. When all the holes have been obscured, a handle 38 is raised to lift the replica board to allow the balls to fall through the holes therein and roll down into a collection hopper 39. |
