They may contain randomly distributed the units where Ar is a phenylene radical linked through the meta and/or para positions, and R is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical. The polymers are obtained by reacting an acetylenic polymer with a hydrazine compound NH 2 -NHR. In examples hydrazine is reacted with polymeric phenylene diacetylene and methylhydrazine is reacted with a poly (phenylene butadiynylene) to obtain polymers containing pyrazole groups.
