Title vessel or vessel for like high temp. and high pressure operations has a circular, or polygonal cylindrical outer wall. The interior is subdivided into a number of parallel, or nearly so, prismatic shaped tubes e.g. triangular, square or hexagonal, esp. honey comb pattern welded together so that the wall thickness of the outer shell can be significantly reduced compared with a plain cylinder, thus also reducing the thermal stresses in the wall due to temp. differences between its two sides.
