Hard alloy produced by sintering contains 1-30% of a binder consisting of 2-30 wt. @ of a Ni-P alloy (contg. 8-14% Ni), 15-50 wt. % Mo, the balance being Ni; and 99-70% of a carbide, mainly WC opt. with addition of a carbide of Ta, Ti, Nb, V, Cr, Zr or Hf. Carbide particles can be preliminarily chemically coated with the Ni-P alloy. The usual ferromagnetic binder, esp. co, used for carbide composites, is replaced by the binder described above the paramagnetic applications, e.g. clocks or wrist watches.
|
